"My first job out of college was selling pain management drugs to physicians. So I understood all the pharmacokinetics and the risks and how all of it works and how they interact. And I used to go around educating doctors on this. The fact that I ended up addicted to them is mind-blowing to me."
Ben disclosed that despite working as a pharmaceutical sales representative for Pfizer educating physicians on pain management drugs, he became addicted to the very opiates he was promoting. His addiction escalated from prescription pills to an $800-per-day IV heroin habit, eventually leaving him homeless in Memphis trap houses. The revelation highlights the irony of industry insiders falling victim to the products they sell.
