Danger Close | The Fourth Option Podcast: Ben Owen & Jessica Owen
"Since the very beginning of 2023, we have shut down 5 fentanyl trafficking operations entirely without sending anybody to jail. We've acquired 4 of those trap houses and turned them into safe and sober living houses."
We Fight Monsters, a Memphis-based nonprofit run by former addicts Ben and Jessica, has dismantled five fentanyl trafficking operations since early 2023 using relationship-building rather than law enforcement arrests. They purchased four former trap houses and converted them into recovery housing. The organization now houses 100 to 120 people at any given time and works cooperatively with the same police agencies that previously arrested the founders.
