Anik says Conor McGregor's Chandler fight ship had sailed before UFC 309
The Ariel Helwani Show
Jon Anik REFLECTS on Legendary UFC Broadcasting Career, Favorite Moments, Friendship w/ Rogan & DC
"I felt like the ship had sailed on the Michael Chandler fight, and I felt like I uttered that publicly before Dana did, so always nice when you fall in line with the boss. But Conor McGregor would have been a favorite against Michael Chandler. Instead, he's a betting underdog here."
Jon Anik disclosed that he publicly stated the McGregor-Chandler matchup was no longer viable before UFC President Dana White made similar comments. Anik explained McGregor would have been favored against Chandler, but is instead an underdog in his current matchup, making it a more legitimate competitive test. He suggested Chandler's limited recent success against ranked opponents made that fight less appealing.
