"I've always had a bad relationship with alcohol. 90% of the times if I do drink, I'm going to drink to be the best at drinking. I'm going to drink more than everybody. That's danger. I'm gonna cut alcohol completely outta my life. I'm not gonna be like my father or make another mistake like I made in the airport."
Poirier admitted he began drinking at ages 12-13 and has an all-or-nothing relationship with alcohol, often drinking until the bottle is gone. After seeing his 74-year-old father living homeless in a truck due to alcoholism, and following his own arrest, Poirier committed to permanent sobriety. He acknowledged alcohol has never benefited him and that he cannot drink in moderation.
