According to New York Times reporting citing IRGC members, Muqtada Khamenei wanted to attend his father's burial on July 9th and personally recite the funeral prayer, but Iranian security blocked it. Officials fear Israel would use the appearance to track his location and assassinate him later. Larry Johnson believes Khamenei will make a physical appearance despite security concerns, noting both Iranian and Pakistani intelligence sources confirm legitimate threats.
