"My algebra teacher said music isn't a career, and I was like, I'll show you, bitch. And so I dropped out and I never went back after she said that. I had a 3.9, but I aced the test and she was like, well, music's not a career."
Skylar Grey revealed that a dismissive algebra teacher's comment directly caused her to drop out of high school at 16 despite maintaining a 3.9 GPA. The teacher made the remark after Grey missed homework due to performing professionally, even though Grey had aced the test. Grey had been touring with her mother since age 6, sometimes performing six shows per week and missing extensive school.
