Grey Wrote Eminem's Love the Way You Lie in 15 Minutes From Cabin Without Plumbing
Joe Rogan Experience
#2504 - Skylar Grey
What was said
"I was living in the woods in this cabin with one light bulb and no bathroom. I would go down to the little café to get internet and hum little melodies into my computer. The first one I did was called Love the Way You Lie, and a month after I sent Alex that hook, it was a number one song."
Skylar Grey detailed how she went from broke and living alone in a one-room Oregon cabin without indoor plumbing to writing one of the biggest songs of the 2010s in just 15 minutes. After losing her record deal, manager, and lawyer, she isolated herself in a remote cabin accessible only by quarter-mile hike, where she reconnected with music before producer Alex da Kid sent her beats via email at a local café.
