"If we're talking about tropospheric ducting, we're talking about K equals infinity, where the propagation happens at the exact same rate that the spherical Earth is curving beneath it. They have to effectively make the Earth's radius infinite and flatten out the Earth. That was actually a setup. I wanted him to say tropospheric ducting."
In response to a 80-mile LoRaWAN microwave transmission record, Sully accused McToon of requiring an infinite Earth radius (K=infinity) in propagation models to make ducting work, which he claims is equivalent to admitting a flat earth. McToon presented Navy climatology data showing 40% ducting probability in that region and frequency, calling it normal atmospheric refraction requiring no mathematical tricks.
