Harvard geneticist Dr David Sinclair says his team’s epigenetic “reprogramming” approach using a subset of Yamanaka factors has entered human testing, starting with the eye as a contained, safer site for gene therapy delivery. He describes the work as aimed at restoring vision in blindness, after animal results he says have been reproduced across multiple tissues and species.
