"brain scans from people in their 50s and 60s and they find that both men and women who report having had more kids have markers of a younger looking brain age. So if you do a machine learning algorithm that adjusts for your chronological age and then you know takes what the scans looks like and uses that to estimate what they think your brain age is. You look relatively younger when you report having had more kids."
Saxbe points to brain-imaging studies of people in their 50s and 60s which, she says, find that parents reporting more children show markers consistent with a younger “brain age” when assessed using machine-learning estimates from scans. She adds that the apparent benefit is greatest around two or three children, with diminishing returns thereafter.
