"If aliens are here unannounced and they're observing us, it is because from wherever they came, there are more of them coming. And that is why they don't want to let us know that they are here, which means we are totally screwed."
In a segment prompted by a celebrity question about alien encounters, Neil deGrasse Tyson says he has not had one, then speculates about the implications if extraterrestrials were already present on Earth without announcing themselves. Tyson argues that covert observation would imply an intent to return in greater numbers and that any civilisation capable of reaching Earth would be technologically dominant.
