Answering a listener’s question about the odds of being hit by a meteorite, Neil deGrasse Tyson recounts watching the 1999 Leonid meteor shower from the Brooklyn Bridge with his young daughter. He describes seeing a point of light intensify without an obvious streak and then vanish, which he interpreted as a meteor coming directly towards his position, burning up in the atmosphere.
