And there was a weird conversation about well, this could be fake that like he didn’t cross the Ts in his name and we’re like yeah, but he got the social security number right, so it might be him."
O’Neill describes being at a CIA-run safe house in Afghanistan when a note said to be from SEAL Marcus Luttrell was delivered after the Red Wings firefight. He recalls internal disagreement over whether the note might be fake and says some personnel were reluctant to risk losing a local source, while others wanted to move immediately to verify and recover Luttrell.
