What was said
"within maybe 10 seconds, there was a bunch of machine gun fire that came towards the compound, my buddy Rick got shot through and through the neck, 762 round, and my captain got shot in the back immediately paralyzed from the chest down."
Describing a June 2012 operation in Helmand province, the guest says Taliban fighters closed in on the compound where part of his unit was positioned, prompting his teammates to open fire at close range. He recalls that a burst of machine-gun fire followed, wounding a fellow Marine through the neck and paralysing his captain after a gunshot to the back; he later describes a medic sealing the neck wound and reviving the injured man within minutes.
