Libertarian commentator and author Scott Horton tells Julian Dorey that former US official Philip Zelikow privately framed Iraq’s main strategic relevance as a threat to Israel, not to the United States. Horton argues Zelikow’s reported remark illustrates why the Bush administration publicly foregrounded US security claims rather than Israel-related rationales ahead of the 2003 invasion.
