Senator Lindsey Graham Suddenly Dies, More Heat For OpenAI, & Are Boyfriends Embarrassing?
"Trump obviously is making his position clear. He said, and this is a quote, we don't need anything that Canada has. They have to treat us better. Trump's own trade chief, Jameson Greer, told lawmakers that only 2 countries retaliated economically against the US last year, China and Canada, and that's why we're putting the stick to them."
The Trump administration refused to renew the USMCA trade deal Trump originally championed, moving it to annual review cycles and threatening 100% tariffs on Canadian goods. The move follows Canada cutting tariffs on Chinese EVs from 100% to 6.1% and Prime Minister Mark Carney's meetings with Xi Jinping. Trump's trade chief cited Canada as one of only two countries that economically retaliated against the U.S.
