Ferguson argues China's most likely Taiwan strategy is not military invasion but asserting legal control over the island's commerce through coast guard enforcement, effectively claiming sovereignty without war. This would give Beijing control over 90% of the world's most advanced semiconductor production at TSMC. The U.S. would face a dilemma: escalate to military confrontation or accept the fait accompli as it did with Hong Kong.
