The United States has depleted its Strategic Petroleum Reserve to critically low levels, leaving only 19 million barrels above minimum operating capacity. This comes as the Pentagon reportedly ran out of money and requested $350 billion in emergency appropriations on top of existing trillion-dollar budgets. The depletion eliminates the US safety buffer as Iran threatens to shut down the Strait of Hormuz.
