How to build a better brain: Your doctor won't mention THIS for mood, memory and dementia
"About 8% of the people who got social support, their depression went into remission. And roughly a third of those who got the dietary support, their depression went into full remission, which is really remarkable for a group who'd been sick for a long time."
In the SMILES trial, one-third of severely depressed patients achieved full remission through dietary intervention alone, compared to 8% with social support. Professor Tim Spector notes these effect sizes exceed average antidepressant outcomes, yet psychiatrists receive no nutrition training.
