"In 1952, my family, parents were visited by some representatives of the U.S. Air Force. There was a special program for highly intelligent children. What it was was a program that was going to crack the cosmic egg by putting the child under incredible pressure. By October, my immune system collapsed and I was dying, literally dying from stress."
Strieber revealed he was enrolled as a seven-year-old in a secretive Air Force program in 1952 that was presented to his parents as enhanced learning for gifted children. Instead, he claims it subjected him to extreme psychological pressure in an attempt to induce contact with non-human intelligence, resulting in complete immune system collapse requiring hospitalization and gamma globulin treatment. His close friend's parents were approached for the same program but declined.
