"A sergeant came out and the cop said, 'You got a bullet in the back of your right kneecap. Did you know that?' And I went, 'What?' And he went, 'Have you ever been shot?' And I went, 'Oh yeah, that bullet. Yeah, I got shot.' And he said, 'And you forgot?' And I said, 'Yeah.'"
Bobby Ludlum recounted discovering he had been shot only when going through a full body scanner while being booked into jail on drug smuggling charges. He had completely forgotten about the bullet lodged in his kneecap for three years. A fellow inmate told him most people brag about being shot, but he had been shot and forgot about it entirely.
