A Rare Republican Break With Trump Raises New Questions
What was said
"I do hope we can get this be done by the next couple of weeks. If it drags on beyond that, it's a political liability for us too, because we've lost Iowa soldiers. I've been to 4 funerals since December. It's awful."
In leaked audio, Ashley Hinson, the Republican Senate candidate in Iowa, revealed she has attended four funerals for Iowa soldiers killed in the Iran conflict since December. Her comments were made in the context of urging a swift end to military operations for political reasons. The statement underscores mounting Republican concern about casualties and the war's electoral impact, particularly in farm states facing record bankruptcies due to the Strait of Hormuz blockade.
