"Almost all the advanced AI chip factories, they call them fabs, are in Taiwan. If they were to invade in the near term, the world would be cut off from advanced AI chips. If more of them are controlled by China, then China will win."
Elon Musk told Ted Cruz that the geopolitical battle for AI dominance hinges entirely on who controls advanced semiconductor fabrication facilities, nearly all of which are currently in Taiwan. Musk warned that a Chinese invasion of Taiwan would immediately cut off global access to cutting-edge AI chips and hand long-term AI supremacy to China, making Taiwan's defense a matter of technological survival for the West.
