The Health Crisis Of Office Jobs - Bob King - #1098
"All the large furniture companies in the world essentially have fought not to put ingredients labels on their products. So this executive said, and it's quoted in the magazine, he said, 'It's ridiculous to put ingredients labels on furniture. Since last time I checked, we didn't eat the furniture.' And I thought that was the most self-serving thing you could ever say. We don't eat it. But we breathe it."
King exposed that the world's largest furniture manufacturers have actively resisted ingredient labeling requirements, with one executive dismissively arguing people don't eat furniture. King countered that furniture off-gasses formaldehyde and VOCs that people breathe constantly in homes and offices. Major institutions like Google and Harvard now require ingredient labels, but most of the industry continues to resist transparency.
