Frank Wright recalls James ‘Jimmy’ Roosevelt telling Marine Raiders their job was to ‘kill’

What was said

"the first word he said to us, we were all hunted down on our butts and he says, "Kill." That's what I want you to remember. kill. We're not here to defend anything else but kill."

Frank Wright says James ‘Jimmy’ Roosevelt, whom he describes as an officer with the 4th Marine Raiders, opened an address to them with the instruction to "kill" and told them they were not there to defend but to kill. Wright says their training focused on lethal close-combat methods.
