Michael Douglas says Three Mile Island matched ‘90%’ of The China Syndrome’s scripted sequence

"Then when Three Mile Island happened came out and they broke down what happened, 90% of our script of our outline of the events was exactly the same."

Michael Douglas says two former GE quality-assurance staff advised the production of The China Syndrome on a plausible nuclear plant meltdown sequence, which was then written into the script in detailed steps. He claims that after the Three Mile Island accident, the published explanation of what happened matched about “90%” of their on-screen outline.
