Ex-Gang Member: What Makes A Violent Man Change? - Johnny Chang
"I could have you know, caught a violent charge that would have been a strikeout for me, right? If they were if they were to, you know, uh uh either snitch or I get caught in the act, um they would have struck me out. I would have did a minimum of 25 to life there for that one incident."
Chang describes being pressured to take part in a planned assault linked to prison politics and drug debts, and says refusal could lead to retaliation. He argues that California sentencing rules can turn in-prison violence into life-changing exposure, including 25-to-life outcomes for a single incident.
