Author and journalist Annie Jacobsen says CIA officers told her that Aafia Siddiqui, an MIT-trained biologist convicted in the US after her 2008 capture, had notes in her handbag describing a plan to engineer a pathogen combining rabies and chickenpox. Jacobsen says David Relman, described as a biodefence adviser to the president, confirmed to her that the material was found and treated as a serious concern, while other details remained classified.
