"Her mother. uh, enlisted in the Navy in the Nurse Corps and got such, uh, bad post-traumatic stress from treating the soldiers that were coming back from World War II that she actually got discharged from the Navy. Oh shit. Took some time off and went back in and lied about her previous service and joined the Army Nursing Corps and went back and did the exact same job."
Andy Stumpf says his maternal grandmother served in the Navy Nurse Corps and was discharged after developing severe post-traumatic stress treating soldiers returning from the Second World War. He adds that she later re-enlisted by concealing her prior service and joined the Army Nursing Corps to do the same work again.
