"Yeah. I had resigned myself to the idea of a certain death and that did not scare me. It would have been um I looked at at that point as some sort of like welcomed relief. like I had gone past the point of anyone being able to help me or me being able to help myself."
Comedian Casey Rocket tells Theo Von he reached a point where he felt certain he would die from addiction and did not fear it, before deciding to seek help. He says the reality of recovery was that he wanted “a better way to live” and “some peace”, describing sobriety as cutting “guff” and “slime” out of his life and reducing shame.
