GOP gets STUNNED as Dems HIJACK THEIR HEARING!!
"It does not ban the selling, right? You're allowed to sell as much stock as you would like as a member of Congress under this bill. Is that wrong? I think it's insufficient to describe it that way. That what you said is accurate, but misleading. It is accurate. Yes. But misleading."
Democratic congressman Joe Neguse pressed House Administration chair Bryan Steil on the GOP-backed “Stop Insider Trading Act”, arguing the proposal bans buying individual stocks but does not ban selling them. In the exchange, Steil said Neguse’s description was “accurate, but misleading”, while Neguse framed that as proof the bill falls short of a full trading ban. Neguse later listed asset classes he said would remain permitted under existing House rules and unchanged by the bill, including crypto holdings, private placements, mutual funds and bonds.
