Overcoming Addiction, Allegations and Finding Christ (Russell Brand) | Ep. 578
"I went to a Catholic church on Christmas Day and I thought, I'm gonna do communion here. Is that all right, God? I know I've not done all the stuff, but like, would the first ones have done it? The priest went, 'Are you Catholic?' And I went, 'Yes.' I lied to a priest on Christmas Day in a church."
Russell Brand confessed to Matt Fradd that he lied to a Catholic priest on Christmas Day to receive communion, despite not being Catholic. He recounted being detected by the priest and later being stopped by security at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York for another communion protocol violation. The admission reveals Brand's struggle with formal church authority even as he claims Christian conversion.
