"44% of American Muslims have a favorable view of Hamas. I mean, I have a lot of Muslim neighbors. The idea that, you know, they have a 50% chance of having a favorable view of Hamas really stopped me in my tracks."
A Pew Research poll found that 44% of American Muslims hold favorable views of Hamas, a finding that both host Batia Unger-Sargon and pollster Mark Penn found significant though Penn cautioned about sample size given Muslims represent only 1.5% of the US population. Penn noted broader Israel support polls show approximately 25% of Americans siding with Hamas over Israel, down from 20% previously, with erosion concentrated among young Democratic women.
