Multiple Black creators with advanced degrees and professional parents rejected the common narrative that the war on drugs destroyed Black communities, instead pointing to fatherlessness as the root cause. They noted that drugs were available to all communities but only devastated those without strong family structures, and that the breakdown began with Great Society programs incentivizing single motherhood.
