Jo Frost calls for UK to ban smartphones in schools by law
We Need To Talk
Jo Frost: “I Was Bullied for 3 Years!” Her Breaking Point, and the 2026 Parenting Emergency
"We have educators who are passionate about the subjects they teach, and they are constantly having to fight the attention of a smartphone. I think it's a great idea. They've said, look, we're going to ban the phones in schools because we want our children present, and we want them present to learn."
Frost endorsed the UK government's plan to introduce a legal ban on smartphones in schools, beyond existing voluntary policies. She argued phones prevent students from being present for learning and socializing during breaks, contributing to teenage anxiety and inability to hold face-to-face conversations. She emphasized school attendance is a privilege thousands of girls globally lack, and disruptions from devices undermine education.
