Which NUTS Top the Charts with Healthy FATS?
"The walnut has over 2.5 grams of omega-3s per 1-ounce serving. That's a lot of omega-3s. That's pretty awesome. But guess what the omega-6 levels are? The omega-6 levels are over 10 grams per 1-ounce serving."
Despite containing the most omega-3s of any nut at 2.5 grams per ounce, walnuts simultaneously deliver over 10 grams of pro-inflammatory omega-6 fatty acids in the same serving. The presenter cautions that this 4-to-1 ratio means walnuts should be limited to half-ounce servings on salads rather than consumed in larger quantities.
