Tyler Grey: The Most Unlikely MOS To Make It Through Delta Selection
"This fucking dude had the record, for like 4 years. I didn't know that when I started running. So we're running, man, and I'm like, I, you know, in full kit, and this dude's like, I mean, a machine, and I'm dying, dude."
A Delta Force operator recounts his first mission in Iraq chasing squirters across 2.5 miles, only to discover afterward that the teammate leading the chase held the Badwater Marathon record for four years. The Badwater is a 56-mile ultramarathon from Death Valley's lowest point to Mount Whitney's summit. The operator, himself a strong runner, describes being unable to even raise his rifle from exhaustion while his teammate showed no signs of fatigue.
