"The report says Washington asked several countries to warn Tehran while Iran sought guarantees through Pakistani and Qatari mediators that his delegation would not be targeted. Galibbah's plane later made an emergency landing in Mashad after Iranian intelligence warned of a possible Israeli attack. On the return flight, Iranian security services warned of intelligence that Israel planned to strike the plane and that two Israeli fighter jets had entered Iranian airspace from the Iraqi border."
According to reports, Israel planned to assassinate Iranian parliament speaker Galibbah and foreign minister Arachi during US-brokered peace negotiations. The US was forced to warn Iran through third countries because it could not restrain Israel from the assassination attempts. Pakistani fighter jets escorted Iranian delegations, and planes made emergency landings after intelligence indicated Israeli jets had entered Iranian airspace to strike the aircraft carrying over 70 Iranian officials.
