The America 250 Commission was promised 100 million of that funding, but in November of 2025, the White House told the America 250 chairwoman she would only get 50 million. And in the months that followed, they whittleled it down to just 25 million. The rest of the money was taken by Freedom 250. Between this and other redirected funds, hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars are now unaccounted for."

Democratic Congressman Jared Huffman alleges that President Trump created a shadow entity called Freedom 250, a Delaware-registered LLC embedded within the National Park Foundation, to divert taxpayer funds and corporate donations meant for the nonpartisan America 250 commission. Huffman claims the organization redirected hundreds of millions in taxpayer dollars, sold access to the president for up to $10 million, and solicited foreign government contributions while keeping donor identities secret. He further alleges that fundraisers misled donors through a bait-and-switch scheme that constitutes potential wire fraud.
