"Do you know when Artemis began? In the late teens. Right about when China says we're going to put taikonauts on the moon... Because we're a little bit spooked by a friendly foe."

The astrophysicist exposes that NASA's Artemis moon program only began after China announced plans to send astronauts to the lunar surface. He argues this follows historical patterns where expensive space missions require geopolitical motivation—the original moon landing was to beat the Soviets, and Apollo 18 was canceled once that goal was achieved. The current moon race is driven by competition with China, not scientific curiosity.
