And then he looked around the room and he said, And there are a number of people in this room who know that everything on that screen is absolutely true. And he said it without smiling. And everybody laughed, by the way. The whole room laughed because he presented it like a joke, but he wasn't smiling."
Steven Spielberg recounted that President Ronald Reagan made a cryptic statement during a White House screening of E.T. to high-level national security personnel, claiming some in attendance knew the film was completely accurate. Reagan delivered the line without smiling despite laughter from the audience, suggesting possible insider knowledge of extraterrestrial contact.
