"At least 12, and probably maybe double that number of countries, have now produced national guidelines to say that ultra-processed food, however they define it, is unhealthy and should be avoided. And the UK is not one of them."
Tim Spector revealed that while a dozen or more countries have issued official warnings about ultra-processed foods, the UK's supposedly independent nutrition committee has resisted declaring UPF harmful despite mounting evidence. He suggested institutional capture may be preventing the UK from following international scientific consensus.
