"One of them was the head of the Baron von Thyssen, the head of the Thyssen family dynasty. His family bankrolled the Nazis. He owned the second largest stash of antiquities in the world, second only to Queen Elizabeth II. He funded this excavation along with Gulf Sands Petroleum. That has links to the Bushes, and it's an American company located in Texas."
Lynn traced funding for a 2010s archaeological excavation in ancient Ur, Iraq to the Thyssen family—whose patriarch Fritz Thyssen gave seed money to the Nazi Party—and Gulf Sands Petroleum, a Texas oil firm with Bush family connections. The excavation, conducted by the University of Manchester, raised conflict-of-interest concerns given Thyssen's private antiquities collection and the oil company's involvement. Lynn suggests this exemplifies the occult interests and shadowy financial networks behind Middle East archaeology.
