The US government issued an emergency export control order forcing Anthropic to disable its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models for all foreign nationals globally, reportedly with only 90 minutes warning. The order came after an alleged jailbreak vulnerability was discovered, possibly by an Amazon researcher. This marks the first time the government has blocked AI deployment and establishes precedent for unilateral White House control over frontier AI access, effectively nationalizing AI capabilities during perceived security threats.
