"If you want to look at what they did in churches, you're going to go look at the liturgical documents in the churches. The Oxyrhynchus Papyrus invokes angels in the same way that we do today in the Orthodox liturgy. It's in the 200s AD."
Warren argued that liturgical documents like the Oxyrhynchus Papyrus and Sub Tuum Praesidium from the 200s AD carry authoritative weight equal to church father writings because they represent how Christians actually worshipped. He contended that bishops approved these liturgies and all early church fathers would have used them in worship. JP countered that liturgical inscriptions from the third century cannot establish that the practice existed in the first and second centuries.
