In 2023, CERN's ALPHA experiment released antimatter hydrogen from a magnetic bottle and measured its gravitational behavior for the first time. While theoretical consensus predicted antimatter would fall like matter, direct empirical confirmation had never been achieved. The measurement showed antimatter falling downward at 0.75 ± 0.29 times normal gravity—consistent with standard predictions but with large error bars scientists are working to reduce.
