DeSantis Proposes Constitutional Amendment to Eliminate Property Taxes for 92% of Floridians

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced he is calling the state legislature back to Tallahassee to begin the process of putting a constitutional amendment on the November ballot that would dramatically expand Florida's homestead exemption to eventually $500,000, effectively eliminating property taxes for 92% of Florida homeowners who live in their primary residences. The plan would create a state trust fund to help local governments offset lost revenue during the transition.
