McCarthy Accuses California of Blocking Retired Fighter Retirement Fund Bill
Joe Rogan Experience
JRE MMA Show #179 with Josh Thompson & "Big" John McCarthy
"Assembly Bill 2130 in California, that Assembly Bill was no money out of the taxpayers' money, zero taxpayer money. It's about sponsorship. 75% of it went to retired fighters, 25% of it went to training for upcoming and in-service officials. Their whole thing was, well, that would allow the sponsor to say that they're basically part of California."
John McCarthy criticized California officials for rejecting a fully sponsor-funded retirement bill for fighters that would have provided financial support to veterans like Josh Thomson who fought 19 times in the state. The bill, which required no taxpayer money, was blocked on the grounds that sponsors shouldn't be able to claim association with California despite actually helping California fighters.
