Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey issued extensive social media tributes to George Floyd on the sixth anniversary of his death, while providing minimal Memorial Day acknowledgment. Walz posted a five-part thread honoring Floyd and visited George Floyd Square to dance with crowds, while skipping the Fort Snelling Memorial Day program where 200,000 veterans are buried. Frey posted one generic Memorial Day message five hours after his detailed Floyd tribute.
