"I told Charlie in October, I said, Charlie, I was orgasmic about Consul, but then I ran into Alpha, Alpha Metallurgical Resources, and it was even better than Consul. So I said, I'm going to send you a write-up on Alpha and I think you should switch. You should switch from Consul to Alpha. So I sent him the write-up and 6 days before he passed away, the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, he was still buying Alpha stock."
Charlie Munger continued actively investing until his final days, purchasing Alpha Metallurgical Resources stock just six days before his death at age 99. After Pabrai recommended switching from Consol Energy to Alpha, Munger studied the analysis and made the switch, demonstrating his lifelong enthusiasm for investing regardless of life expectancy. The coal investment was made despite the sector being widely shunned.
